Situated on the confluence of Phnom Penh ‘s three rivers is Chaktoumuk Hall. Designed by, Mr. Vann Molyvann, the same Khmer architect responsible for the Independence Monument , it was built in 1954. It wasn’t formally inaugurated until 1961 during Sangkum Reastr Nyom, or the rule of King Norodom Sihanouk. This domed auditorium is used not only for theatrical performances but also for conferences and other celebratory events; the main hall seats 1,300 guests. Chaktomouk Hall is located on Road No. 1 (Preah Sisowath Quay), a 5 minutes walk South-East of the Royal Palace.
