08:30 Travel by moto/car /or 4x4wd to Kachock village (Tom Poun tribal village), which would take approximately 50 minutes to get there. Visit the villages of the Tom Poun and Krueng tribes. Enjoy a scenic 30minutes motorized boat ride upstream the mighty of Sesan river to visit a majestic Viracehy’s Kachock jungle with one hours and half trekking to a stunningly amazing over forty meters high waterfall where you can invigorate your muscle and refresh swim before to enjoy lunch. Trek back to the boat and then to a Kachock ethnic village and a short trek to observe the sacred cemetery of Kachock indigenous people, each tomb has interesting wooden man and woman sculptures. Catch a boat downstream Sesan to Vuensai, and then check in at VSSPNP office. You’ll be taken by community moto for an hour ride to VSSPNP base research station. Meet local gibbon ranger and trek with him and English speaking guide to the grassland for bird watching. Dinner will be prepared by the community chef at the research station. After dinner will go out for a safari night walk to look for seeing the nocturnal species. Go to bed around 9pm as the following day is an early grumpy morning start!
Get up at 4am as the gibbons wake up with the sun and call to mark their territory as soon as dawn breaks. At 4:15, whilst it is still dark follow the guide to the gibbon habitat area about 45 minutes away to make sure we are there in time to hear their calls. We then reach the edge of the grassy savannah and wait for the call of the certain family, currently the only group that accepts people in their presence. The different families start to call(sing) at around sunrise with some calls carrying up to 2km. Once the habituated group of gibbons start their calls, the gibbon guide will try to locate them in the forest as fast as possible and he will guide up to spot so we can watch them in their natural habitat as they go about their morning activities in the tree canopy. In some case they let you come very close-less than 15 meters-which provides an excellent opportunity to take pictures. This is a special time as the gibbons can travel quickly in the trees and leave in a split second, anytime they want. Once they do, it can be very difficult for us to find them again, however the group can often be followed for a couple of hours throughout the forest.
After the gibbon sport we trek back to the station for brunch at about 10:30am. after lunch you’ll be taken back to Veunsai to sign out from the office. You will be taken to Koklark village a community of Kavet tribal people, visit the village and meet local community ranger and then trek for 2 hours to the mountain at Tju Pres rapid. Enjoy a panoramic view of the Virachey NP from the mountain top and a good refreshing swim at a beautiful O’Lalai river. You’ll stay an overnight with the local Kavet. Have a pleasant dinner with hosted family and understand their culture and lifestyle. Our English will be glad to be your translator.
Say Goodbye to the family! Enjoy bamboo-rafting downstream O’Lalai river for 3 hours to Kocklak village with view along the river and chance of spotting some birds.
Lunch will be at Koklark, then you’ll be taken by moto to Vuensai and take a ferry across Sesan river from there our vehicle waiting to take you back to Banlung.
