07:30 Assemble at our office.
08:00 Depart Banlung towards Vuensai district, home to various ethnic minority groups. The drive takes about 60 minutes.
Take the ferry across the Se San River and travel back to Banlung.
Upon arrival, explore the bustling local market in Vuensai.
Take a ferry boat across the Se San River, followed by a 20-minute drive to the minority village.
Arrive at the Kavet community village, "La Lai," and meet the community trekking ranger from the Kavet tribe. Our English speaking guide will introduce you to the local ranger, who knows the jungle intimately but does not speak English.
Begin the trek with the guide and ranger carrying most of the supplies, while visitors help carry their own items and extra water (two 1.5L bottles).
First Hour:
- Trek through jungle patches and old abandoned nomadic farms, reaching Virachey National Park after about 30 minutes.
- Continue trekking inside the primary forest, encountering many ancient trees and learning about jungle plants from our guides.
Second Hour:
- Cross a river, either by wading or swimming, depending on the season (wading from mid-October to mid- June
- due to shallow water, or swimming/taking a community boat from mid-June to mid-October).
- Trek uphill through diverse giant trees, enjoying beautiful jungle views. Our guide and ranger will share knowledge about the jungle, including water-bearing vines, edible and poisonous plants, and aromatic plants.
- Break for a picnic lunch around noon.
Afternoon:
- Trek for one hour in a loop back to the river, then proceed to the Kavet tribal family.
- Relax for about 10 minutes and pack your belongings in plastic bags.
- Embark on a local bamboo raft for a 2.5-hour journey, enjoying the scenery and possibly spotting kingfishers,
- parrots, and local tribal villages.
- Swim in the clear water (sightseeing not guaranteed).
- Upon arrival on land, our vehicle will transport you back to Vuensai.
- Take the ferry across the Se San River and travel back to Banlung.
